Signs to be put up at Park Locations in Moss Point
X marks the spot. Today, the City of Moss Point and Land Trust marked two future spots for nature parks by placing signs in those areas.
The first, off Highway 613 across from the Riverfront Welcome Center, will cover 4.52 acres of land. It will feature walking trails and an observation deck for students to learn about wildlife and insects living in the oak trees. The second spot is down the road at Saracennia Park next to the fire station.
City officials tell News 25 these projects are important in preserving the history of the River City, but also setting up places for future generations to appreciate. Moss Point Mayor Billy Broomfield said, “This is something for my children, my grandchildren, and hopefully their children will be able to use this for years to come and realize someone had a vision in the city to make these things available to our citizens.”
The city hopes to start the ground work of the projects in the next few months.
