Shuckers owner, team president visits MGM Park for home opener

Getting fans in the seats for opening day is normally an easy sell, but pulling a capacity crowd at MGM Park has proven to be a challenge for Shuckers Owner and Team President Ken Young.
Prior to today’s game, Young spoke with local media about his plan of action regarding fan support. In 2015, the Shuckers played the first two months of their inaugural season away from home before returning to their brand new MGM Park and an average crowd of roughly 2,600. However, those numbers stayed virtually the same in 2016 at a clip of just under 2,700 a game.
Needless to say, filling those empty seats during the team’s third season in Biloxi is right at the top of Young’s to-do list. “That ranks high. Trying to bring more people out for games is certainly a priority for us and it’s important to us, and hopefully we have the type of ball club that people want to see also. We should become a household name where people look forward to the first week in April every year and hey, let’s get out to MGM Park and see a Shuckers game. And then continue to come back throughout the season,” said Young.
Young says things like bigger promotions and more fireworks nights will help boost ticket sales in 2017.
