Shuckers host local schools for day game

A rare morning game at MGM Park today provided the perfect opportunity for some local students to take a break from all the back to school commotion.

The Biloxi Shuckers hosted Education Day. Several educational exhibits were set up around the stadium. The kids had the best seats in the house to watch the home team take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

News 25 caught up with a few students who said this trip to the ballpark gave them a nice change of pace after a few weeks of being back in the classroom.  East Central seventh grader Addie Grace Webb said, “It definitely threw off my routine because this summer I liked to sleep late and do a lot of stuff with my friends, but during school you can’t really do that.”

East Central seventh grader Destiny Lovejoy said, “It’s really nice because you expect going to school sitting in a desk all day, but you don’t. You just get to go to a baseball game.”

The East Central Middle School students enjoying the game today were being rewarded for their good scores during last year’s state testing.
