Shrimpers gather for 97th annual Blessing of the Fleet in Biloxi
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- The weather was great Sunday for the celebration of a Biloxi tradition that spans generations.
The 97th edition of the Biloxi Blessing of the Fleet saw shrimpers and others stop by the Blessing Boat on the Biloxi Channel to receive a blessing for a bountiful harvest.
The traditional wreath drop Sunday served as a remembrance of deceased fishermen.
Saturday night, Ryleigh Merriman was crowned as the 2026 Shrimp Queen, serving alongside this year’s King, shrimper Greg Baker.
In addition to Sunday’s blessing ceremonies on the water, the annual Shrimp Festival was held for the public to enjoy on the grounds of the Harrah’s Great Lawn.
