‘Shrek the Musical’ takes over the Beau Rivage this summer

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- ‘Shrek the Musical’ is getting ready to take the stage at the Beau Rivage.

The magic starts long before the curtain goes up as the resort transforms into a fairytale world of ogres, adventure, and fun.

‘Shrek the Musical’ runs from June 11 through July 2. Before the curtain rises, crews are busy bringing the show to life behind the scenes while the Beau Rivage transforms every corner of the resort into the world of Shrek. Director/ Producer Jeb Rand said, “We’ve been working for Beau Rivage for a year, just on ‘Shrek the Musical.’ For pre-production we design the scenery, the sets, and bring it all to life. We’ve been here on set for three weeks with the cast, the crew, and designers building everything and putting it together. Doing the LED content, rehearsing the choreography, the singing, and dancing for the cast. We have Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, all the fairytale characters will be there and it’ll just be a whole lot of fun for the whole family.”

The Beau made sure the fairytale doesn’t stop at the theatre doors. Beau Rivage Director of Communications Mary Cracchiolo said, “The building is lit up green. The fountains are green. Throughout the atrium and retail promenade we have a Shrek scavenger hunt. So, kids of all ages can come have fun finding the Shrek characters and enter to win prizes. In addition to that, all culinary teams have had a lot of fun doing activations in all the restaurants. So, I think people can come for the show and stay for the fun.”

This kind of production requires months of planning, nonstop rehearsals, and teams working around the clock to perfect every detail, all leading up to an epic performance that won’t break the bank.
