‘Shred Day’ at Keesler Federal in Gulfport

Saturday, Keesler Federal Credit Union teamed up with Ace Data Storage to put on a free ‘Shred Day’ for Gulf Coast residents.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., cars lined up at Keesler Federal in Gulfport to shred personal documents to prevent key information from falling into the wrong hands.

Residents were welcome to bring up to five bags of sensitive documents that were then shredded under controlled supervision.

So many people showed up with documents and papers to shred, Ace had to call in a back-up truck to accommodate all the shredding that needed to be done. Ace Data Storage employee Josh Leone said, “Usually Seaway is really busy. We usually have to have a back-up truck because it fills up so fast. We really didn’t know what it was going to be like. We were figuring, okay with COVID is it going to be slow? Or with everybody who had that time in their home been able to clear up?  Well, it started at 9 a.m., we go there at 8:30 a.m. and there were already 20 cars in line. By 9:10 a.m., I probably had 40-50 cars lined up down Seaway.”
