Shows return at Center Stage Biloxi
Center Stage Biloxi is excited to bring theatre back to South Mississippi after a long hiatus due to the pandemic.
The stage lights are back on and the intermission is finally over for staff, actors, and volunteers at Center Stage Biloxi.
Now that COVID restrictions have finally eased and things are slowly getting back to normal, Center Stage Biloxi is ready to make people laugh with their new live show ‘Fully Committed.’ Actor David Slatten said, “I was dying to get back on stage. So, to be back and to be the first show back it feels great. It is energetic. We are all excited at the theater here”
Slatten plays Sam, a reservation clerk taking calls for patrons at a famed restaurant. “It’s a posh Manhattan restaurant. It’s a very high level, expensive restaurant. Movie stars, finance managers, Wall Street people, all these big names go to this restaurant.”
Slatten is no stranger to the stage at Center Stage Biloxi, where he has performed in around 31 stage plays, but he says the difference between those plays and this play is that he will be the only one performing and he will be performing as 40 different characters. ‘I’m fielding these calls as Sam but I’m also the people on the other line. It’s just a number of different characters calling in to get reservations.”
Director Chuck White says COVID was the reason for casting a one-man show and that safety precautions are their number one priority. “They’re requiring masks and they are going to have hand sanitizer everywhere. They are planning on sanitizing the seats between shows. They are only selling half the tickets so they can maintain space between parties.”
The show will run from May 6th until May 16th. Tickets are available at centerstagebiloxi.org.
