Shoppers Hit Stores for Black Friday
Whether you were out in the dark before sunrise or you waited until the sun came up, shoppers across the Coast took to stores for Black Friday. Shoppers all across the Coast braved crowds to score that perfect deal.
There are many origins for the term Black Friday. The most common being decades ago the day after Thanksgiving would be when holiday shoppers would start hitting the stores. They would shop so much in one day the sales would take the store’s ledgers from red, or in the negative, to black, or in the positive.
The day has evolved over time leading to some choosing online shopping over fighting Black Friday crowds, doing both or simply waiting until the crowds die down.
Black Friday shopper Chad Noflin said, “I did both. I shopped online and in the store. I cancelled the online. I had to make sure I ended up with a TV. I did a little bit of both. I hedged my bet.”
Black Friday shopper Sheila Braud said, “We’ve only done the Black Friday shopping one time where we got up and waited and it was awful. So, we just wait.”
With Black Friday now slowly coming to a close, next up is Cyber Monday.
