Ship Island still under repairs; Dolphin and cocktail cruises available

As we are getting ready to enter this year’s hurricane season, some are still recovering from last year’s storms.

Ship Island is still under repairs and excursions to the island are on hold, but you can still enjoy some time out at sea.

They’re offering dolphin and cocktail cruises. The dolphin cruise has daily departures at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

While the cocktail cruise takes off on Saturdays from 7 to 9 for those 21 and older.

As crews are getting ready for the typically busy Memorial Day weekend, they’re eager to offer their normal schedule of Island Excursions. Ship Island Excursions Operations Manager Robert Skremetta said, “The island is actually still damaged from a hurricane in 2020. The park service is supposed to be open in late June, but we are hoping to get people out there as soon as possible, as soon as the dock is repaired, we’ll bring people the next day.”

Visit Ship Island Excursions website for more details on the excursions they currently offer.
