Sharper Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison

The federal judge who more than doubled former Saints football star Darren Sharper’s prison sentence told him that courts cannot ignore the damage he inflicted on women and on society at large.
Sharper was sentenced to 18 years for drugging and raping more than a dozen women. He originally pled guilty or no contest to charges he drugged and raped as many as 16 women in four states.
In June, prosecutors suggested a nine year sentence for Sharper. Judge Jane Triche Milazzo rejected the sentence and gave him 18 years.
