Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month
This morning to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, commanders from the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport came together to sign a proclamation.
The proclamation honors a pledge some of the top leadership on base make each year to do their part to help eliminate sexual harassment and assault.
Donna Snow, the sexual assault coordinator for the NCBC, tells News 25 this year the main goal of the month is educating people on having the courage to prevent. “We are getting ahead of that curve all together and really promoting the prevention aspect and how to intervene. If you see something, say something and that’s really our commitment. We know we are committed to eliminating it, how do we do that? We provide a solid prevention strategy built in with how do you intervene.”
This month, Seabees will be reminded that regardless of rank, grade, or job specialty, we can all take action.
