Severe Weather Causes Deadly Damage Across Mississippi

While the Coast was lucky, receiving with little to no damage from Tuesday’s severe weather, those storms were deadly for areas a little further north.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (M.E.M.A.) confirmed four deaths and at least 50 injuries from the storms that struck Tuesday afternoon, along with many damaged homes and flooded roads. Two people died in Jones County and two in Marion. Three of the four dead were killed when their motor homes were destroyed.

Governor Phil Bryant says, “Realizing the loss of life is always difficult and heartbreaking, but particularly during the Christmas season. So I want everyone in Mississippi’s thoughts and prayers to be with everyone’s families at this time.”

The American Red Cross is continuing to assist those affected by the storms and they are accepting donations.
