Several CSX railroad crossings to close in South Mississippi next week for rail replacement project

A project to replace CSX railroad crossing rails in South Mississippi will begin Monday, February 24.

The project is scheduled to last for approximately two weeks, and will impact about ten crossings between Ocean Springs and Gautier.

This project will have two teams working at the same time on the tracks.

The teams will work like rolling production lines that work down the tracks and will replace the rail at the crossings as they come to them.

Each crossing will be closed for approximately 2 to 3 days, and there is a potential to have multiple crossings closed at the same time.

Project coordinator Ray Porter says the work schedule is tentative, and is subject to change due to numerous variables that come with these types of projects.
