Sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexual battery on a child

A Gulfport man has been sentenced to 40 years behind bars for sexual battery and burglary.

Twenty-six year-old Dominique Macon pled guilty earlier this summer. The sexual battery conviction resulted from a disclosure by a nine-year-old child to his parents and to police that he woke up in the middle of the night to an unknown male in his bed threatening him to stay quiet.

The child stated that the male, later identified as Macon, pulled down the child’s pants and assaulted the child sexually.

Macon will spend 30 years in prison with ten suspended.
