Seniors receive free rides for absentee voting in

Community leaders in the City of Gulfport are making sure everyone has a chance to cast their votes this election season.

District 119 Representative Sonya Williams Barnes along with other elected officials loaded up the vans and helped senior citizens in the area with free transportation to their polling locations.

It’s a last minute push for absentee voting in the community. Barnes tells News 25 this election is important and this is not a time for excuses to not exercise your right to vote. “Making sure our seniors get out. Those that are disabled, come out and vote that way they won’t have to stand in lines on Election Day. However, we may have a few lines today. But we are here to make sure they are most comfortable and getting their vote counted.”

Representative Barnes tells News 25 they will continue providing transportation services until the absentee deadline and on Election Day.
