Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith visits Port of Pascagoula
United States Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith says the needs of local industry leaders are high on her agenda after a visit to the Port of Pascagoula today.
The recently appointed senator was touring the Port of Pascagoula and attending meetings at Northrop Grumman and Chevron. Hyde-Smith became the first woman to represent Mississippi when she was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Senator Thad Cochran in early April.
Senator Hyde-Smith tells News 25 her focus in her campaign right now is time management and priority. She says the Gulf Coast is definitely a priority. “It’s exciting to see everything that’s happening here, the great leadership, the opportunities that this port presents itself, but the leaders that are capitalizing on those opportunities. Anything we can do on a federal level to capitalize on this and make sure economic growth continues here is certainly why I’m down here listening to industry.”
Hyde-Smith will fight to maintain her appointed seat in November.
