See you at the Pole

Dozens of Ocean Springs middle schoolers gathered at the flagpole this morning for prayer.
This is part of a global movement, “See You at the Pole,” an effort to bring youth together for a few minutes of peace.
The annual event began in 1990 with a small youth group in Texas. Now over 25 years later, millions of students participate on the last Wednesday in September for prayer at the school’s flagpole.
Ocean Springs Middle School students led and organized the event, hoping to shed light on the positives instead of the negatives in the world.
Seventh grader Mikayla Meyer said, “It’s really important because we hear that the Lord will hear our prayer if we pray and that he will bless this world more and that we will start to help the violence that’s going on.”
Seventh grader Sophie Smith said, “He’ll watch over us and make sure that we’re okay and help other people in need.”
Ocean Springs administrators tell News 25 the number of students who come out to pray at the pole continues to grow.
