Secretary of State Candidates Ready for Thursday Debate

Five weeks from today, voters throughout the state will head to the polls to cast their ballots in the November 5th general election, and once the final tally is in, there will be a new Secretary of State, since current Secretary of State, Republican Delbert Hosemann is in the race against State Represenative and Democrat Jay Hughes to be Mississippi’s next Lieutenant Governor.

Still undecided over which Secretary of State candidate to vote for come November 5th? Well, listen up! William Carey University is hosting a candidates forum where you can get to know the two South Mississippi candidates in this race, and what they stand for.

Republican State Senator and Pascagoula native Michael Watson, and former long-time Hattiesburg Mayor and Democrat Johnny Dupree, are both scheduled to appear at a candidates forum this Thursday, October 3rd at 4 pm at William Carey University’s Thomas Fine Arts Auditorium at its Hattiesburg campus.

William Carey plans to live stream the forum.

The forum is free and open to the public.
