Second Annual VGA Tourament
Over 80 veterans are taking a swing for the number one title at the Veteran Golfers Association Championship.
This second annual national tournament features players at the top of each region in the country. They all met today at the Fallen Oak Golf Course for a veteran practice day, pairing sponsors with competing veterans.
To many of the service men and women in the tournament it means more than just golf. United States Army Veteran Matthew Spang said, “It’s help me walk faster because it helps me get out of my wheelchair a little faster and I wanted because at times it was really hard, it’s easier to just stay in my wheelchair and not put my legs on, but when I get on the golf course I want to play golf and I just put my legs on and I don’t really think about it.”
The first day of competition begins Tuesday and the tournament wraps up on Wednesday.
