Second annual Harrison County Fair

The summer may be winding down, but the second annual Harrison County Fair is heating up here in South Mississippi.
Gates open tonight at 5 for the first day of the free event. Tonight at 6, one church kicks off where different Christian groups will be performing so make sure you bring a blanket or chair. For $25, kids can go on the rides provided on the fairgrounds and enjoy the wide variety of vendors as well.
Organizers of the fair tell News 25 even though the entry is free, attendees are encouraged to bring supplies or monetary donations for the hurricane relief fund. Jourdan Hartshorn with the Harrison County Fair Association said, “There is a hurricane in the Gulf now about to hit Florida it looks like. So, we want to make sure there’s money to send over there, too. When you come in there will be people in front asking for donations. You can donate anything. We’re also accepting water, cleaning supplies, stuff like that to be brought and we’ll have a storage place so just look for the big banner that says hurricane relief building.”
You can drop off your donations at the entrance of the fairgrounds on County Farm Road. For a full schedule of events for the fair visit harrisoncountymsfair.com.
