Second Annual Coast Guard Auxiliary Open House

Today, USM Gulf Park students had the opportunity to see what the Coast Guard is all about and learn more information about their auxiliary program.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a voluntary organization working alongside active duty and reserve Coast Guard units. At their second annual open house today, interested students had the opportunity to drive a Coast Guard boat, participate in man overboard drills and more.
One student News 25 spoke with us has been in the program for two years and enjoys the leadership skills he’s gained from the program so far. USM Auxiliary University President Richard Grady said, “I mean, aside from the leadership opportunities, it’s engaged me in school, as far as not being a student, but bringing more to the table for my resume and professionally as a young professional and possibly even opening doors for me in the Coast Guard or other services.”
