Searching for Jackson County murder suspect
The Jackson County capital murder suspect accused of killing and leaving the body of the victim inside a freezer is now believed to be back on the Coast.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department tells News 25 Thomas Elliot Stafford returned to Jackson County after he drove to Mount Vernon, Alabama to sell his cousin the car that belonged to the murder victim. Stafford’s cousin tells officials he sold the car for cash and a handgun. He then drove Stafford back to Jackson County.
Officials say Stafford should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him should contact their local law enforcement agency.
A capital murder warrant was issued Tuesday on Stafford for the death of 65-year-old Jerry Kirkendall.
