Search Continues for Missing Plane

The search continues for a Saucier businessman and two others aboard a small plane that disappeared yesterday afternoon after taking off from the Million Air terminal at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.
Authorities from multiple agencies have teamed up since late last night on a search and rescue mission to find the small one engine plane and the three passengers who were on it.
News 25’s Kendra Turley is live in Jackson County with the latest.
Citizens in the Belle Fontaine Beach area notified authorities about the debris they believe to be the tail wing of the plane. Family and friends of the three passengers, including Saucier businessman Dexter Brewer, Gerald Miletello of Monroe, Louisiana and an unidentified pilot, gathered this afternoon at the Coast Guard headquarters in Pascagoula waiting for updates in the search.
Brewer and Miletello work for RMR Mechanical and were said to be heading out from Gulfport to South Carolina for a business trip when the plane went missing.
Meanwhile, multiple agencies continue to scour the area where the debris was found.
Captain Brandon Lechthaler with the Coast Guard said, “We’re keeping our thoughts and our prayers with the friends and family of those that are missing. It’s currently an active search and rescue case. We are searching for survivors.”
Chief of Marine Patrol with DMR Keith Davis said, “The tail wing, obviously, is significant and we don’t want to get too involved in what has been located at this point but yes, we have found various significant pieces of what we believe to be a part of that flight.”
Authorities are asking anyone who finds anything that could be debris from the plane to leave it where it is, don’t touch it and call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 228-769-3036.
