Sea-N-Sail Adventure Camp

The Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum welcomed boys and girls from across the Gulf Coast today for the last week of their summer camp.

Children ages six to 12 embark on a week of fun and learning. Campers will do everything from art projects to sailing to Horn Island to learn more about Biloxi’s fishing history.

Outreach Program Coordinator Corey Christy tells News 25 it is the museum’s goal to educate local campers on Biloxi’s rich maritime history. “Yeah, it’s great to be able to introduce them to and keep the story alive. We just finished our tour of the museum actually where we talked about the boat building, the fishing, and the history of the city. They get to see some of it. They get to go take a ride on the schooner, they get to go out and do a shrimp trip and learn how to throw a cast net and really, hopefully keep some of that alive.”

Be sure to pay attention to the museum’s website this December when they open up applications for next year’s series of camps.
