Schooner the Seagull flies out of isolation to make surprise delivery in Bay St. Louis
In some way, shape, or form, the coronavirus is affecting us all. Take the Biloxi Shuckers for instance, now almost a month past Opening Day and still no return date for Minor League Baseball.
Without taking away from the seriousness of the situation for players, coaches, and the front office, this whole pandemic makes for one lonely mascot.
Today, Schooner the Seagull is finally out of isolation for a couple of hours and flew to the other side of the Coast to make his fifth surprise package delivery.
Wednesday’s lucky recipient is Joshua of Bay St. Louis, who has special needs, but also has a very special friend.
The gift bag came complete with two reserve level ticket vouchers, some stickers, a Southern League All-Star hat, and a baby Schooner doll.
Joshua returned the favor with some hand-written notes addressed to Schooner himself and even got to show off a personalized blanket from his favorite moment at MGM Park.
The two old pals capped off their morning together by lounging on the front porch and taking in a little sun. Quite a day to remember for Schooner and the gang until he gets to see all his friends again real soon.
Biloxi Shuckers Ticket Sales Executive Kory Dumond said, “Yeah, Schooner loves brightening people’s days. He’s known for flying in and making surprise visits and that so to just be able to get out and about and let people know and remind them that the Shuckers are still here. We might not be playing ball, but we do a lot more than play baseball at MGM Park.”
The Schooner Surprise Delivery Package is $75 and delivery within a 20 mile radius is preferred.
