Scarlet Pearl to help victims of human trafficking
According to the Mississippi Department of Health, human trafficking affects 12 to 27 million men, women, and children worldwide.
The Scarlet Pearl Casino and Resort wants to help those on the Gulf Coast who have been affected.
On Thursday, August 22nd, the Scarlet Pearl will host an inaugural silent art auction to benefit ‘Jubilee Havens.’ Its mission is to provide safe houses for victims of human trafficking in Mississippi.
There will be various types of artwork from local artists such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, and jewelry. All of the proceeds from this event will go to ‘Jubilee Havens.’ Scarlet Pearl Group Sales Manager Rita Blenman said, “Whenever an organization like this, that hits close to home, because there is a lot of human trafficking going on right now in our area, believe it or not. We have a beautiful area, but there is a lot going on down there. Whenever someone of our caliber can step in and say ‘Hey, we are going to help,’ that is what we do.”
The silent auction of artwork will be from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday, August 22nd. The live auction for selected art pieces will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $25 at the door.
