Saucier man charged in murder case

Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said in a press release Monday that a Saucier man has been charged in the murder of his girlfriend.

Peterson said that on Friday, his office received information from the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office. He said Jeremy Childress, 46, of Saucier had been arrested after Neshoba County deputies responded to a domestic call which resulted in a brief standoff.

Neshoba County authorities said after his arrest that Childress said he had shot and killed his girlfriend at a residence on Haley Road in Saucier.

Harrison County deptuties responded to the residence on Haley Road and found a woman, identified as Michelle Hester, 52, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

After further investigation, and with the help of the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, Harrison County investigators determined that Childress was responsible for Hester’s death.

Childress is charged with murder and his being held at the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office awaiting transport to Harrison County jail. He will be held on a $1 million bond set by Judge Melvin  Ray.
