Sarah Thomas at Pascagoula Homecoming Parade

A local celebrity was back on the Coast tonight and took the Pascagoula homecoming parade by storm.
Sarah Thomas is the first female referee in the NFL and former Pascagoula High School graduate. The student council reached out to Thomas to be the grand marshal in tonight’s homecoming parade. Not just high school students came out to support Thomas, the mayor and other city officials rode along in the parade to welcome her.
News 25 spoke with Thomas’ former church softball coach and he says she is such a wonderful person and has also set a great example for this generation. “I’ve been picking on her and giving her a hard time. She has such a great attitude. It’s great to see her and it’s great for Pascagoula to have her come back and be willing to do that with her busy schedule. We were very fortunate to have Sarah here,” said Richie Tillman.
Friends of Thomas say they aren’t surprise to see her in this position because she is such a competitor, great teammate and has a wonderful personality.
