‘Santa Wears a Badge’ campaign under way at Jackson County Sheriff’s Department

Across the Coast, local organizations and groups are helping make the holidays a little better for those less fortunate this season.

One of those organizations is the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. They recently kicked off their annual ‘Santa Wears a Badge’ campaign. The campaign helps provide Christmas gifts to local underprivileged children.

Currently, the sheriff’s department is accepting applications to receive gifts. To qualify for assistance, the family must reside in Jackson County, the children must be 12 years or younger, and the family should not be registered for gift assistance from any other program or agency.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell tells News 25 why this campaign is especially important this year. “It’s very important because you know there’s a lot of folks right now that this year it seems to be in more need than we’ve seen in years past. And it is very important for the community to know that the Sheriff’s office is here trying to help those in need and it’s always better to give than to receive and that’s just the way we feel about it.”

To apply to receive gifts, call Connie Bosarge at 228-623-0659. If you would like to help by donating gifts, boxes will be set up at local businesses around Jackson County. All donations will be picked up December 16th and 17th.
