Santa Claus delivers presents to senior citizens

Today, the Gulfport community came together to spread Christmas joy for the seniors at the Boyington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Holiday cheer filled the halls as organizations joined the Boyington staff and Santa Claus to pass out presents for the seniors at the center. Community members were able to adopt a resident through the Christmas holiday to ensure that all the seniors, including the ones without family members, were receiving a gift this holiday season.
The City of Gulfport and Birthday of Mardi Gras Club were major contributors in bringing smiles to the residents of the center. Montressa Joshua with the City of Gulfport said, “We know some people here at the homes don’t get gifts so we want to just bring our seniors into our families and have them have a gift under our tree.”
Birthday Mardi Gras Club Treasure Ruthy Thaggarty White said, “It was a great inspiration to see the smiles and happiness on their faces and we look forward to doing it again next year.”
The Boyington staff holds this event every year. They fundraise year round for the seniors and contribute to the gift giving as well.
