Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign kicks off

The Salvation Army is kicking off their Red Kettle campaign today.

This century-old tradition provides hope to the less fortunate during the holidays. For many, it’s the official start to the holiday season, seeing the bell-ringers for the Salvation Army.

This year, the Salvation Army of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s goal is to raise $400,000 for Jackson, Harrison, Stone, Hancock, Pearl River, and George Counties.

These funds are a lifeline for local Salvation Army programs and services throughout the year.

If you don’t carry cash, it’s not a problem. New this year will be the option to donate via Google or Apple Pay. Just find a kettle and scan to donate. Salvation Army Major Bradley Caldwell said, “It gives people a chance who don’t have time to contribute time to be a volunteer through their dollars, they support the programs with their love and care along with their donation.”
