Salvation Army preparing for Hurricane Delta
The Salvation Army is preparing to respond to Hurricane Delta, if need be.
Preparations began earlier this week as the Salvation Army has placed disaster relief equipment and personnel on standby.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Area Commander Major Bradley Caldwell says they have been in contact with all of the area’s emergency management agencies and local authorities and are all working as a team in case a response is needed.
Major Caldwell says they are prepared for whatever happens. “One of the key elements in times of disaster is that we have personal care. We have emotional and spiritual care that we train people to give. So those folks are on site not just to feed, not just to clothe, but to listen, hear and receive the person’s pain, let them debrief from their trauma and let them know they are not alone.”
In case of any feelings of stress, a reminder that the Salvation Army’s emotional and spiritual hopelines remain available.
