Salvation Army Looking for Helping Hands
In a little over a month, the Salvation Army plans to give Coast residents a taste of South Mississippi. Right now, they are looking for helping hands to help put on the event.
The Salvation Army already has 25 volunteers to help out with the Taste of South Mississippi but need about 25 more. They are also still looking for donations in the form of silent auction items. The event isn’t until March 10th but they are looking for volunteers now so they can assign them to wherever they will need the help. Morgan Shiyou, with Salvation Army public affairs, said, “They will be serving food, serving drinks, directing our guests into the gym because the gym will be transformed into a whole bunch of restaurants. So, it’ll smell good. We also need someone to help with the silent auction items, making sure they’re all sitting where they should be, nobody is taking them, that sort of thing and that people are actually bidding on them. We want people to get motivated to bid on our silent auction because that’s a big part of our fundraiser.”
