Salvation Army lends a hand

As flood waters continue to rise, it’s extremely dangerous and impossible in some parts to send relief into Louisiana and Texas.
The Salvation Army in South Mississippi is doing what they can to help and Major Gary Sturdivant says money is the best way. WXXV has teamed up with the Salvation Army. If you would like to donate to the relief efforts go to helpsalvationarmy.org or dial 1-800-Sal-Army or make a $10 donation by texting ‘STORM’ to 51555.
The Salvation Army will distribute gift cards to help recovering families buy the items they truly need after the waters recede and clean up begins. “I know that people’s hearts in South Mississippi just want to reach out and help. I’ve had people call and say they want to give, I want to give diapers, I just want to help and I was like we understand that, but it’s going to take a little time for this water to recede and once this water recedes then we’ll know better about how to get donations into the area,” said Major Sturdivant.
One hundred percent of all monetary donations will go toward relief efforts in Louisiana and Texas.
