Salvation Army Food Pantry is Looking for Donations

Nearly 700,000 Mississippians do not have enough to eat and the Salvation Army in Gulfport is always there to help. But now, the Salvation Army is in need.
The shelves of their food pantry are emptying as the need for food and donations increases. If donations don’t come in soon, hundreds of people could go without eating.
“We get a lot of our donations during Christmas time, but the Salvation Army has a slogan that says ‘need knows no season’, so we need people to give all year long because people are hungry all day long, not just during the holiday time,” said Stacy Crandle, social service program coordinator.
The food pantry is in need of any non-perishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice and beans. Individual donations can be dropped off at your area Salvation Army. If you’d like to host your own drive to get your community or business involved, the Salvation Army has all the supplies you’ll need: “We can go ahead and get you signs, we can get you barrels, we can get you set up to help feed someone in your community,” said Crandle.
Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Kroc Center at 575 Division Street in Biloxi or at their area command center at 2019 22ND Street in Gulfport.
