Salvation Army Begins Red Kettle Christmas Campaign
Friday, volunteers were collecting donations from 20 locations across south Mississippi. By next Friday, the Salvation Army is expected to have 55 kettles along the Coast. Donations to Red Kettle help raise money for the poor, homeless, and others in need that often remain overlooked during the holidays and year round.
Laura Bianco, Public Relations Director for the Salvation Army, says, “Oh, it’s amazing. People love to help other people. In fact, Mississippi is one of the most giving states in the nation, and I think that’s because a lot of us have faced hard times, and so through our Red Kettle Campaign, it helps all of our social service programs throughout the entire year. It’s our largest fundraising campaign.”
The Red Kettle Christmas Campaign runs through December 24th
