Salute to the Military senior dance

Biloxi senior citizens put their dancing shoes on today while showing patriotic spirit at the senior’s Salute to the Military dance.
The seniors were treated to a hamburger lunch with cupcakes and ice cream for dessert before hitting the dance floor. City of Biloxi Senior Specialist Gwen Johnson says it is a fun way for the seniors to celebrate the Fourth of July while honoring and saluting active military, veterans, and their families.
The dance, put on by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, is one of many events for seniors to enjoy throughout the year. “A lot of the seniors don’t get out so this is an opportunity for them to come out and fellowship with each other. Some are home alone so they do look forward to coming to these kinds of events so they can connect with their friends,” said Johnson.
The next senior dance sponsored by Biloxi’s Parks and Recreation will be the Rock and Roll Bash on Friday, September 29th.
