Sales tax holiday underway
Shoppers along the Coast and the entire state have the opportunity to purchase certain items without sales tax this weekend.
The Mississippi Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday kicked off this morning at midnight.
Guns and ammunition are exempt from the state’s sales tax during this period and accessories like holsters and archery equipment are also included.
Store Manager Toby Baughman of Academy Sports and Outdoors in Gulfport says the holiday is a good way for people to find savings as certain hunting seasons open. “I think it’s a good advantage as far as for the customer to be able to stock up on supplies that they may need through the season to take advantage of those savings.”
The holiday officially ends on midnight Sunday.
