Sales Tax Holiday for Outdoor Sports

This weekend, hunters and campers will be greeted with a sales tax break at their favorite outdoor sporting goods stores.
The second annual Mississippi Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Outdoor enthusiasts will see a tax break on supplies for hunting, archery and ammunition.
Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves and the National Rifle Association worked together to place the sales tax into law.
While customers will be excited to see cheaper prices, outdoor sporting goods stores are excited to see a surge in sales. Matt Fasler, manager at Academy Sports and Outdoors, said, “We’re expecting an uptick in traffic as far as in Gulfport with us. We’ve got a lot of great products going on at Academy Sports and Outdoors. If we don’t have something or we run out of it, you can go online. We’ve got a mobile device, we’ve got more options in the store.”
