Saints Take the Lead in NFC South After Win Against Bears

Monday night, the New Orleans Saints took the lead in the NFC South after a win on the road against the Chicago Bears.

Drew Brees threw for 375 yards and 3 touchdowns to help the Saints claim an early 14-0 lead at halftime, and a 24 to nothing lead through three quarters. Chicago answered back in the 4th, but the Saints sealed the victory with a 15 yard touchdown run by Mark Ingram to finish off the Bears 31 to 15. With the win, the Saints are in sole possession of the NFC South, with only two games remaining in the regular season.

Brees says, “I just think we responded well as a team, you know, man, we were embarrassed about what happened last week and we know we’re better than that and certainly a great sense of urgency going into this game, just knowing what’s at stake and you know, what a win would do for us, you know, not just in the standings, but from a confidence standpoint. You know, it sets us up for no bigger game than what’s coming up this week against Atlanta at home.”

The Saints now hold a half game lead over the Carolina Panthers and a full game lead over the Atlanta Falcons for the top spot in the division. Saints will host the Falcons next week in a big divisional showdown.
