Saints Take Disappointing Loss Against Dallas Cowboys

In a disappointing performance Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, the Saints have fallen to 1-3.

Saints Head Coach, Sean Payton, says, “Shoot, we struggled offensively, defensively, kicking game, coaching. There’s not going to be much good to see on this film.”

After last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, it seemed that the Saints had taken care of their turnover problem, but late in the second quarter, a pass intended for Robert Meachem was tipped and picked off by Justin Durant. Two more turnovers played a part in the 38-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Saints Quarterback, Drew Brees, says, “So for us offensively, what do we need to do? Well, we score more points and we take care of the football.”

After a lackluster performance through three quarters, the Saints had the makings of a comeback in the works. Brees found Jimmy Graham to make it a two possession game with just under 10 minutes to play. On their next possession, the Saints were stuck with a fourth and long, looking to keep the drive going, they faked the punt, but it ended up in a two yard loss. Brees also says, “We had our chances in the second half, but at the end of the day when you look at this game, the entire game, we got beat. We got beat in every facet of it. That’s the disappointing part.”

It’s sure to be a tough week of practice for New Orleans this week, as they look to strengthen their game across all aspects. Payton closes, “We’ve got to eliminate the things that keep you from winning. So it starts with the ball security. It starts with taking it away, third down, both sides of the ball. We’ve got to be able to stop the run when we know they’re running the football too.”

Next week, the Saints will host a 1-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers team, who pulled a major upset against Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. You can watch the game on WXXV FOX.
