Saints Finally Win on the Road; Beat Panthers 28-10

A Halloween treat for the Who Dat Nation: a Thursday night win over the Carolina Panthers. The New Orleans Saints have secured the top spot in the NFC South Division.

A Drew Brees interception early in the first quarter may have tricked Saints fans into thinking it was going to be another rough road game, but they were actually in for a treat. The Saints rallied to win their first road game of the season. The final score was Saints-28, Panthers-10. Saints Head Coach, Sean Payton, says, “I was proud kind of how we fought through some adversity. I thought as the game went on. We were able to weather the early turnovers. Defensively, we came up with some big plays.”

The defense held Panthers Quarterback, Cam Newton, to just 151 yards passing, sacked him four times, and forced two turnovers. Saints Quarterback, Drew Brees, says, “I feel like the last couple of times we’ve just continued to get better and better. If you want to call it breaking the seal, whatever you want to call it. We just call it another win, a great team victory.”

Saints Running Back, Mark Ingram, had another dominant performance, rushing for 100 yards and scoring two touchdowns, making him the first Saints player with consecutive games of 100 rushing yards rushing since Deuce McAllister in 2006. Brees also says, “Mark has been super consistent. The o-line has done a heck of a job. We’ve done it in spite of not having two backs here over the last two weeks with Khiry and Pierre, obviously those guys are a big part of what we do. Mark has man carried the load.”

After this week’s quick turn-around, the Saints have a chance to get some much needed rest before beginning a three game home stand starting November 9th.
