Saints and Hancock Whitney bring football, financial literacy to local students

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Students at one South Mississippi elementary school were treated to a lesson plan with a little extra gameday energy as they got a crash course in football and finances Tuesday.

Thanks to Hancock Whitney and the New Orleans Saints, Our Lady of Fatima students rotated through skill stations where each one started with a different finance lesson before jumping into football drills.

The Saints youth football and development staff led the action on the field while banking volunteers connected the dots between teamwork, goal-setting, and money management. Austin Campo with the New Orleans Saints said, “Look, these kids are out here today not only just doing football drills, but learning financial literacy before they actually start the drill. So, we have some of our Hancock Whitney bankers out here educating them on what it means to be financially stable.  The biggest thing, don’t break that piggy bank just yet. Keep making sure that you’re investing as much as possible, because someday they’re going to want to open that bank account at Hancock Whitney and invest into something in their future.”

The event wrapped up with Saints trivia, giveaways, and a whole lot of energy from all students involved.
