Safety Measures Update at MGCCC

Students at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will be coming back to a safer school when they return from the holiday break.
Safety and security measures on the Jefferson Davis campus in Gulfport are amping up for the new year. A mass emergency notification system has been placed in every classroom on campus.
School officials say they have updated MGCCC’s emergency action plans at every location. Executive Vice President of Administration and Finance Dr. Michael Heindl said, “What we have to do is be ready to act in the event of an emergency, in the event of an active shooter which took place recently at Ohio State University. What we’re doing is making sure that our employees are trained. Our police continue to be trained and our students know what to do in the event of an emergency.”
Spring registration starts Thursday at all MGCCC campuses. Students return from break on Monday.
