Saenger Theatre to undergo renovations

$1.5 Million of the City of Biloxi’s $14 million bond issue was approved to address renovations for the Saenger Theatre.

These renovations will include a modification of the fly tower, roof replacement, replacing the H-VAC system, and sealing the building’s exterior.

Starting on March 7th, the city will ask for bids for contractors to do the exterior work on the theatre. This project will add to revamping downtown, never losing sight of the city’s history. Cecilia Dobbs-Walton with the City of Biloxi said, “It’s an important piece of the City of Biloxi. It’s an important piece of the City of Biloxi’s history. So, it is something that is needed and the city is looking forward to having done. So, they are looking at having all of the work done within the next year or two to have it open, having the symphony back in, and a lot of dance groups and recitals will be able to use the theatre.”

The city council must approve a contractor during the bidding process. Once approved, exterior work will begin to take place.
