Rock the Block

Blues, country, pop and rock and roll echoed throughout the IP Casino and Resort this evening for the fourth annual Rock the Block fundraiser.
Rock the Block is a major fundraiser for the Rock U 2 Foundation which provides scholarships for musical instruments, lessons, and interactive programs.
Twenty five dollar tickets granted access to unlimited food, wine, beer and entertainment. All proceeds benefit under-served and disabled children in South Mississippi who otherwise might not have music as a part of their lives. Rock U 2 Foundation President Tim Alamsha said, “When Blues started in the Delta, multi-generational families, no TV, people would go out on the porch at night and learn how to play guitar, banjo from their aunts, uncles, brothers and it’s just different now. We’re just learning about how many of the schools are struggling with budgets and cutting programs for entertainment and the arts.”
Southern rock legend Jimmy Hall headlined the concert. Guests also placed their highest bids for various gifts and door prizes during a silent auction.
