‘Rock your Socks’ for World Down Syndrome Day

The halls of Saucier Elementary School were infused with flashes of color, fun patterns, and googly-eyed characters this morning as teachers and students walked from class to class wearing their wildest, mismatched socks as a show of support for World Down Syndrome Day.

Every year, World Down Syndrome Day is held on the 21st day of the third month because the genetic disorder is the result of a third copy of chromosome 21.

The reason behind the funny socks is simple: to raise awareness and create a single global voice for advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.
