Ride to Recovery Cyclists Move on to New Orleans

The Ride to Recovery veteran cyclists are continuing on to New Orleans. Over 160 wounded vets started their trip in Atlanta.

Ride to Recovery is a non-profit organization that aims to bring together vets and active military personnel who are in the process of healing. Friday, Gulfport Mayor, Billy Hewes, and Economic Development Director, David Parker, rode alongside the vets as they left Gulfport, continuing on their road to recovery.

Parker says, "These guys have given so much and they’ve been through so much, and for us as a city to host them here, and this is not their first year here, and they’ll definitely be back. It just means the world to us as a city to be able to have them here and leading by example the way they do. They are just a true inspiration for every one of us and I’m getting so much out of this."

Parker is riding with the vets all the way to New Orleans. Once they make it there, they will complete a community service project in City Park.
