Ribbon cut on new fully accessible park in Ocean Springs
The new fully accessible park in Ocean Springs is ready for play.
The ribbon was cut on Little Children’s Park earlier this afternoon. Representatives from Disability Connection, Disney, and city officials gathered for the grand opening celebration.
The playground has universally designed structures for kids and adults with or without disabilities. Kids got a chance to try the park out and have some fun today.
Disability Connection Director Janie O’Keefe tells News 25 it feels great to see years of hard work pan out. “There are no words to express how excited I am. There’s probably 50 kids out here today. When I see how excited they are, it makes all the work, it just makes it all worthwhile.”
The new park is the first fully accessible public playground in Jackson County. The Little Children’s Park is located at the corner of Calhoun Street and Washington Avenue.
