Restoration summit in Biloxi
Mississippi is still recovering from the heavy hit it took after the BP oil spill in 2010. That is one of the reasons why the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality hosts the annual Mississippi Restoration Summit.
The second annual summit is going on today at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. The MDEQ invites the public to learn about current restoration projects in Mississippi and the announcement of new projects.
Tonight, during the meeting at 6:30, they plan to announce 19 new restoration projects that total almost $83 million. MDEQ Chief of Staff Chris Wells said, “We will give project updates and highlight some of the projects that we have going on currently and then we will have an opportunity for folks to engage with us in a roundtable discussion format to discuss restoration priorities and future project ideas.”
News 25 will keep you updated on the new projects as they are released.
